A second away trip in three days proved too far for the Yeltzmen as they come away from Kidsgrove empty handed.  A slow start and a defensive error saw Halesowen Town go 1-0 down after 7 minutes.  For the rest of the game Halesowen had much the better of posession and chances, the best opening coming in the second half when striker Ben Haseley was hacked down in the area only for Tom Warmer to miss the resulting penalty, the Kidsgrove defender also shown just a yellow card.  On Saturday Halesowen travel to Coalville Town who are flying high in the league and yet to lose a home match this season.

Halesowen bowed out at the first stage of the League Cup after Carlton hit three extra-time goals.  In a low key start to the game, Jean-Michel Gueyes played a delicate 25th minute chip into the path of Craig Milligan in Carlton’s penalty area, but his shot was tipped over the bar by goalkeeper Martin Kearney. The resulting corner from Nathaniel Caines was then cleared off the line by Adam Kimberley. Despite plenty of effort and endeavour there was little further first half action, although Craig Milligan’s long range effort was collected by Kearney and an effort from Dan Evans was palmed away by Kearney for a corner after he met Tom Warmer’s 40th minute free-kick.

The second period was much more evenly contested and substitute Mitchell Botfield finished off a fine move to put us level for the second time. Chances for a winner were not taken and the hosts netted a late winner.
