Marvellous Marvin Robinson bagged a Hednesford hat-trick as the league runners-up geared up for the play-offs with a six-goal destruction at The Grove, writes David Johnson.  There was little resting on the actual result with Halesowen already consigned to bottom place and Hednesford assured of a second place finish. The afternoon was therefore one of attempting to preserve pride for Halesowen and preparation for Hednesford ahead of their home play-off semi-final on Thursday against Leamington.

The clash of the two basement teams ended in stalemate and only confirmed Halesowen will finish bottom of the league with Tiverton also condemned to relegation, writes David Johnson.  The hosts began the game desperate for a win in the hope of still avoiding the drop, but despite increasing urgency as the game progressed, Tiverton lacked any penetration in a poor home display. Indeed it was easy to see why Tiverton have also been in relegation trouble all season, with the game ending in a predictable deadlock as the two weakest attacks in the division locked horns.

Halesowen were denied an heroic victory by a 94th minute equaliser in a remarkably spirited performance at Didcot’s npower Loop Meadow, writes David Johnson.  Despite being already relegated, the Yeltz put local fans through an afternoon described as “agony” as the relegation-haunted hosts failed to inspire their nervous followers. Indeed, Halesowen remain unbeaten on Oxfordshire soil, with the late leveller denying Halesowen the double and being the only goal conceded on three trips to the county this season.

Grove refereeing jinx Robert Lovegrove MBE also safely negotiated a full 90 minutes without meteorological incident.

Trophy action with even a series of fine saves from Dean Coleman unable to prevent an inevitable ninth straight defeat.  The visitors named a surprisingly youthful line-up with a further four debuts handed out to defender Dexter Young and substitute Xenon Smith – both 16 year olds from the youth team; Declan Attenborrow and 16-year old Tyler Maxwell, who recently auditioned for Wayne Rooney’s ‘Street Striker’. Craig Connor regained the captain’s armband shortly before the kick-off, ahead of initial choice Adrian Manchester.

Redditch centre-forward Marco Addagio hit the first real chance over the Halesowen bar in the 15th minute.
